Are you a magazine reader? Do you have a tablet, e-reader or smartphone? Would you like to have your favorite periodicals accessible on your device, no matter where you are? Well, Alamance County Public Libraries introduced a new service on April 1 that’s just for you!
We are proud to announce that we have added Zinio for Libraries to ACPL’s digital collections! Through Zinio, library patrons now have access to premier cover-to-cover digital editions of many popular magazines.
With Zinio, our patrons will be able to check out the latest issue and some back issues of more than fifty magazines in a variety of categories. Featured titles include Newsweek, Discover, American Girl, Glamour, Game Informer, Our State, Rolling Stone, Seventeen, Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, Outdoor Living, Mental Floss, Better Homes & Gardens, Popular Science, Vanity Fair, Family Handyman, Weight Watchers, Martha Stewart Living, O: The Oprah Magazine, and many more! I was especially excited to discover that Us Magazine is included. Reading the gossip magazines in the grocery store checkout line has always been a guilty pleasure for me, and now I can download one to my iPad every week!
Our collection includes something for everyone, with cooking, fitness, news, science and technology, outdoors, home improvement and popular culture magazines. Zinio’s platform allows multiple people to check out the same magazine simultaneously, and users may request an email notification when new issues of their favorite publications become available.
Zinio’s unique technology digitally recreates a magazine page for page, including full color pictures, easy navigation, key word article search and interactive elements such as audio and video. Our digital magazines can be easily viewed on most Internet-enabled devices inside or outside of the library. Free apps are available for PC/Mac; iPad®, iPhone®, Android™, Kindle Fire™, Windows® 8 & Windows Phone 8.
It’s so easy to get started – all you need is your library card number. For more information on this great new service, visit the library website, http://www.alamancelibraries.org/libraries-2/zinio-digital-magazines/, or ask library staff for assistance. Give it a try today!
