Electronic Reference Desk!

About the Electronic Reference Desk
- We can answer
brief, factual questions, such as requests for historical dates, sources of quotations, a
company or organization address, etc. We can
not answer in-depth questions but we may be able to make suggestions as to where to look.
- This service is
intended for patrons of the Alamance County Public Libraries. If
you do not live in the Alamance County area we suggest that you contact the
public library in your area. If you do not
know the library in your area, you may use the Public Library Locator (http://nces.ed.gov/surveys/libraries/liblocator/)
- We will try to
answer questions as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours. However, questions submitted Thursday through
Sunday may have a longer turn-around time because of the weekend. If you want a quicker response, you may want to
contact the Reference Department directly by phone.
When asking a question please follow the format below:
- Your e-mail
address.
- If needed, can we
contact you by phone? If so, include phone
number.
- If you are a
student, please tell us what grade or level you are in.
For example, 5th grade, undergraduate, graduate. If other, please explain or leave blank.
- Ask your question. Please be as specific as possible. For example, instead of I need information
on the First Battle of Bull Run, say, How many were killed in the First Battle
of Bull Run?
