NC LIVE
North Carolina Libraries for Virtual Education (NC LIVE) offers citizens of North Carolina online access to complete articles from over 10,000 newspapers, journals, magazines, and encyclopedias, indexing for over 20,000 periodical titles, and access to over 24,000 electronic books. NC LIVE is available free of charge to library patrons, both in the library and remotely. Call or stop by the library for your NC LIVE password to use remote access.

750 Downloadable Audio Books now available
Alamance County Public Libraries patrons now have access to nearly 1300 downloadable audio books made available through NC LIVE, North Carolina’s statewide online library, through a Library Services and Technology Act grant from the State Library of North Carolina. The new audio books are compatible with iPods and most MP3 devices, with subjects focusing primarily on language learning, classic literature, history, and biography. The audio books are available to library patrons at home via an Internet connection, through NC LIVE, at www.nclive.org. Library users will have to set up an account and may check out up to 5 audio books at a time. The audio books are checked out for one week and are automatically “returned” when the loan period is up. Once checked out, the audio books can be downloaded to the library user’s home computer and then transferred to an iPod or other MP3 player. Because only one person can have an audio book checked out at a time, library users can place holds on titles that are not currently available. They will be notified by email when they can access the title.
