If you are a regular library patron, you may have noticed shelf markers with information about eBooks throughout the five branches of Alamance County Public Library (ACPL). ACPL has an extensive digital collection of over 1,500 eBooks available for checkout, along with digital magazines, newspaper archives and eAudiobooks. With a web-capable device and a library card through ACPL, you will have access to all these resources!
Alamance County Public Libraries’ eBook collection is for patrons of all ages. Children will enjoy Tumblebooks, a collection of picture books which are narrated and animated, along with puzzles, games, and literacy activities. For older children, teens and adults, a huge variety of eBooks are available. ACPL’s digital collection includes bestselling authors; such as Harlan Coben, Nora Roberts, and David Baldacci. Also, required reading for middle and high school students are accessible through the catalog, along with numerous Newbery Award winners. There is also interesting nonfiction for checkout as well, The Day My Brain Exploded by Ashok Rajamani and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, for example.
Curious to find out more about our digital collection? Come to the Mebane Public Library (located at 101 S. First St.) Monday, August 10th from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. for the eBooks info session. The hour-long program will include a step-by-step tutorial on how to check out eBooks and ACPL’s technology librarian will be available for troubleshooting. EBooks can be read on practically any device that can access the internet. If you have a wi-fi capable device, bring it with you. If you do not, you can still come! We will introduce you to the wonderful world of eBooks through the Alamance County Public Libraries!
