Artful Halloween: 31 Frightfully Elegant Projects by Susan Wasinger

Artful Halloween by Susan WasingerWith the holiday season upon us it is time again to break out the holiday decorations.  But like many people nowadays, monetary restrictions hinder being able to purchase the latest, greatest things.    Happily, the Alamance County Public Library has a number of books with decorating and crafting ideas for the holidays.  They run the gamut from very sophisticated, elegance to simple, easy and inexpensive so no matter your interest or budget there’s something for everyone.

One popular title for this time of the year is Artful Halloween by Susan Wasinger.  It draws reader’s attention with a very colorful, fun cover and doesn’t disappoint for holiday ideas.  With crafts such as button and bead spiders, disembodied hands made out of old gloves, spooky spirits bottle wraps, multiple kinds of garland and pumpkin decorating ideas that use paint and glued on bling there’s something for everyone.  Each craft includes step-by-step instructions and full color photos that show supplies and parts of the crafting process.  An easy book to follow with a wide variety of crafts in which readers can pick and choose their favorites to help get ready for this Halloween season.

While this is a favorite Halloween decorating and crafting book, there are plenty of others available for every holiday season.  Here are some others that you may enjoy.  Halloween by Joanne O’Sullivan has many costume ideas with fewer decorations. Felt-o-Ween by Sheldon Kathy contains forty felt craft ideas for Halloween.  Martha Stewart’s Handmade Holiday Crafts is a compilation of two hundred and twenty-five ideas for all holidays. Simply Handmade by Carol Dahlstrom is three hundred and sixty-five projects for every occasion, whether it’s gift ideas or decorations.  100 Little Christmas Crafts by Search Press Studio is a compilation of Christmas decoration ideas for sewers, knitters, jewelry makers and more.  And if none of these sounded good to you, please talk to any library staff about finding the perfect holiday idea book.  It is impossible to list them all!
