Paws for Reading

Our ongoing program is designed to help children improve their reading skills by reading aloud to a registered therapy dog. Children read for 15 minutes in a relaxed, one-on-one session with a lovable dog.

Libraries and schools across the country are having great success with this one-on-one program.  Children have a unique opportunity to read to a dog, helping them gain confidence reading aloud. Paws for Reading is open to children ages 6 – 12.

There are five Storywalks around Alamance County that feature a disassembled children’s story around a path or trail, promoting literacy and physical activity all at once! Stories are changed every quarter.
