NC Live

NC LIVE offers citizens of North Carolina online access to complete articles from over 10,000 newspapers, journals, magazines, and encyclopedias, indexing for over 20,000 periodical titles, and access to over 24,000 electronic books.  NC LIVE is available free of charge to library patrons, both in the library and remotely.

Salem History includes biographical information on thousands of historical figures from ancient times to the twentieth century.  It is especially useful for researching rulers, political figures, scientists, inventors, and important figures in arts and literature.  Many articles also contain information on important historical events and discoveries in science and commerce.

Salem Online

Salem Health includes over 1,100 articles on major human diseases and disorders as well as articles on human anatomy and physiology and on major medical areas of specialization.  It also contains information describing many common surgical and nonsurgical therapeutic procedures.

NCpedia highlights North Carolina’s unique resources, people, and culture to enrich, educate, and inform.

Khan Academy – offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. Tools for math, science, computing, history, art history, economics, and more, including K-14 and test preparation (SAT, Praxis, LSAT) content.

Library of Congress Core Documents of U. S. History is available to access to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and more.

The Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University houses writing resources and instructional material. Get grammar assistance tools, research and citation information, and more.

The Los Alamo National Laboratory Periodic Table of Elements will help uncover the atomic weight, symbols, and weights of the elements.

Digital NC Resources – Materials contributed to DigitalNC by Alamance County Public Libraries include a variety of high school yearbooks and the “Mebane Leader” newspaper.  Many historic Burlington City Directories are also available.

Gale Testing and Education Reference Center

Testing and Education Reference Center includes in-depth information on college, graduate, and professional programs, professional training, scholarships, and entrance tests alongside practice tests for entrance exams, certifications, and licensing exams.

College Foundation of North Carolina (CFNC) is a free service of the State of North Carolina that promotes access to North Carolina higher education and assists students with education planning, career planning, and applying and paying for college.

College Board Online is available to fill out applications, search for scholarships, and register for entrance exams.

Federal Student Aid will help you learn how to prepare for college, what types of student aid are available, eligibility requirements, how to apply for aid, and how to manage your loans.
